The city of Dublin, OH, is located in the northwestern suburbs of Columbus and almost in the exact geographical center of the state. 1. Columbus

Thanks to its proximity, it is not surprising to see Columbus as the most popular day trip destination among Dublin residents. The capital and most populous city in the state of Ohio is home to a plethora of local attractions, historical monuments, charming neighborhoods, and a thriving gastronomic scene. With a population of over two million in its metropolitan area, Columbus is a regional economic and touristic hub that welcomes visitors from all over the world.

Getting from Dublin to downtown Columbus takes about 20 minutes by car, driving along routes I-270 and I-70. Once you are in the city center, the most famous attractions can be easily reached on foot. Some of the places you should check out include Capitol Square, the Scioto Mile Promenade, the Columbus Museum of Art, St. Joseph Cathedral, Scioto Audubon Metro Park, North Market Downtown, the National Veterans Memorial and Museum, and the Uptown District.

2. Wayne National Forest

Covering an area of over 240,000 acres, Wayne National Forest is an expansive nature reserve where visitors can enjoy some time away from the city. Established in 1992, this place is the only national forest in Ohio and one of the most diverse natural areas in the state. The place was originally cleared for agricultural and lumbering use but was later restored as part of a comprehensive reforestation project.

Wayne National Forest is located a little under 100 miles southeast of downtown Dublin and can be reached in about an hour and a half by car along routes I-270 and US-33. Featuring a lake, numerous campgrounds, a designated swimming area, picnic spots, fishing piers, and hiking trails, this expansive national forest is an excellent destination for visitors of all ages and preferences. Popular activities include picnicking, mountain biking, archery, and wildlife watching.

3. Buck Creek State Park

Located in the outskirts of Springfield, Buck Creek State Park is another great day trip destination for Dublin residents looking for a place to escape the urban bustle. Featuring a large artificial lake, this state park was established in 1975 and covers over 4,000 acres of protected area. The place features an extensive network of hiking trails, as well as campgrounds, boat launches, fishing piers, cabins, and designated hunting areas. Getting here takes about 45 minutes by car.
