Regular Audi maintenance will ensure that your vehicle performs exactly as you’ve come to expect, lasts as long as it should, and retains its resale value. Maintenance is just one way to ensure that your used vehicle is in peak condition and stays there.

1. Get Regular Audi Maintenance

Don’t be tempted to skip those maintenance intervals in the owner’s manual. Regular maintenance is the very best way to keep any car, including a used one, in absolute peak condition. This manifests even in something as simple as getting the filters changed on a regular basis, which happens at these maintenance intervals. By changing out the oil filter and engine filter, you protect your engine from debris and metal shavings that can damage it over time.

2. Drive Like You Care

Pay attention to what you’re doing and where are you going so that you can avoid the need to suddenly brake. You also want to avoid jumping off starts aggressively and run your engine at moderate speeds most of the time. Speeding wrecks your fuel economy, and it’s hard on your engine.

However, it is a good idea to occasionally rev your engine up to, but not past, the red line. You might do this once a month or so, and only do it when the engine’s thoroughly warmed up. What this does is to blast through some of the carbon deposits that can sometimes build up on your valves and other parts.

3. Use the Air Con

Many people mistakenly think that air conditioning in a car is the same as air conditioning in a home: a waste of energy. In actuality, you don’t save any money on fuel costs if you open the windows instead of running the air conditioner. In fact, it likely cost more in fuel because you are creating more drag, enforcing the engine to work harder.

Also, when you leave the air conditioner off all the time, it’s more likely to leak refrigerant gas, which is bad for the environment and could cost you in early re-charging. And if the air conditioner is off all the time, you’re more likely to have a buildup of mildew in the vents. This means you need to run the air conditioning even during the winter, at least a little bit.
